This table shows the A Level/GCSE equivalents to BTEC courses. Both BTECs and A Levels can help you gain valuable UCAS points for university courses. The choice you have to make now is whether to choose a practical, hands-on BTEC course, or a wider range of theoretical and practical A Level courses.
To study a standard A Level programme (three A Levels) you must have a minimum of five GCSEs grade 4 and above including English and Maths. You must also meet the specific subject entry requirements. For a mixed programme of A Levels and BTEC Level 3 courses you must have five GCSEs grade 4 and above which could include one BTEC and either GCSE English or Maths as appropriate for your chosen courses.
