Students will complete 4 units, 2 of which are internally assessed by coursework. There are two externally assessed units, with 1 examined unit (3 papers) and 1 practical skills assessment; which is externally marked.

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
Learners develop the transferable and higher order skills which are valued by higher education providers and employers. Typical sectors include: nursing and healthcare, sports and nutrition, engineering, biological and physical sciences and environmental and earth sciences. The qualification can be taken as part of a diverse programme, leaving progression options fully open. It can also give context to subjects which would benefit from some scientific background.
