Course Overview

The Applied Science course covers a wide range of concepts in Physical, Chemical and Biological Science, including cells and tissues; physiology; genetics; atomic structure and chemical and physical properties; inorganic and organic chemistry; energetics; fluid mechanics; material science and waves.

The course also covers analytical, investigative and preparative practical techniques, including individual research projects and forensic investigation; with an emphasis on developing practical skills.

Course information

2 Years

Students will complete 8 units, 5 of which are internally assessed by coursework. There are three externally assessed units, with 2 examined units (3 papers each) and 1 practical skills assessment; which is externally marked.

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
