It is never too late to fill in any gaps left by your education. Our part-time English courses are a great opportunity to improve your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills in a friendly and supportive environment. All our courses are government funded up to L2 or GCSE grade 4.

We offer English courses at the following levels:

• Functional Skills Level 1 (in college or online)

GCSE English is a one-year course suitable for adults of all ages. You will learn how to understand and analyse a range of fiction and non-fiction texts by evaluating the writer’s choice of language and structure. In addition, you will develop your own writing and speaking skills in a fun and creative way. Learner engagement is essential. Additional practice will be required in your own time, and regular learner checks and feedback will be given weekly plus 1:1 and online support.

Functional Skills courses will cover reading skills, writing skills, spelling and punctuation. There is an additional module for speaking and listening. Teaching will be delivered in the context of skills needed for everyday life and the workplace, such as letter writing and form filling.

You can also enrol for online functional Skills English and study at your own speed from the comfort of your own home. This course is particularly suitable for those learners with other life commitments and 24-hour course access is guaranteed. There is online tutor support to support and guide you through your programme.

Whether you want to study English to help develop your skills for progressing in your career or to help your children, we may have a course for you.
