Students must show a demonstrable interest in recording, computer sequencing and composition as well as performance on one instrument and keyboard skills.
Course information
This is a practical course in which you will learn how to use the College’s recording studio and Logic music software for mixing, sequencing, arranging and composing. You will develop your listening skills through analysis of a range of musical genres, from 1930s to today.

Assessment is both practical and written assessment:
– Practical assessment – Recording Music using Technology, worth 25% of the marks.
– Practical assessment – Composing Music using Technology, worth 25% of the marks.
– Written exam – Listening and Analysing, worth 25% of the marks.
– Written exam – Analysing and production, worth 25% of the marks.
– The written and practical assessments both contribute towards 50% each of your A Level.
Level 3 EDEXCEL GCE A Level in Music Technology
During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
