Course Overview

This course is for you if you found GCSE Maths easy, love algebra and can’t wait to have at least half of your timetable devoted to learning new, exciting maths topics. This course comprises of two A Levels, so it occupies two of the subject choices on your timetable.

Be prepared for a real challenge, but also to have fun and meet like- minded academic students.

Entry Requirements

Requires a GCSE in maths at grade 7, plus the standard entry requirements of an A Level or mixed programme.

Course information

You will study a combination of pure maths, mechanics and statistics over two years. Pure mathematics will extend what you have learned at school, as well as introducing you to important new ideas and methods. In mechanics you will learn how to apply mathematics in the physical world to describe the motion of objects and how they respond to forces acting upon them. Your study of statistical models to analyse real-world data and make predictions about future trends.

2 Years

In class, face to face.

A Level Mathematics – three two-hour exam papers at the end of your second year.
A Level Further Mathematics – four 90-minute exam papers at the end of your second year.

Level 3 EDEXCEL GCE A Level in Further Mathematics

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
