On this course, you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of how drama is developed and performed from the perspective of an actor, director and designer. You will study three set texts through examination and practical exploration with the written exam composing of 40% of the final grade.

Course information
You will learn how to devise and create contemporary theatre, as an actor, director or designer. You will study three theatre practitioners/companies and two texts that you perform for a practical exam. This is supported by a written report of the process. Three shows, one in year 1 and 2 in year 2 result in 60% of the final grade. You will experience both live theatre productions and pre-recorded theatre to inspire and enhance your creativity across your two years of study.

Assessment is both practical and written assessment:
– Theatre Workshop (one group performance and coursework).
– Text in Action (two group performances and coursework).
– Text in Performance – two hour and 30 minute written exam.
The written assessment contributes to 70% of your A Level grade and the practical assessment contributes to 30% of your grade.
Level 3 WJEC GCE A Level in Drama and Theatre
During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
